Melissa had walked most of the way to the pokemon lab, but now that it was in her view she bolted ahead dying to see what type of pokemon there were to pick from. Her hopes were to get a Dratini, but doubted that there would be any, since they were hard to find and weren`t the best starting pokemon. Of course she had some back up pokemon that she would consider, but it never hurt to ask.
The door was open ever so slightly, so once she got there she slipped in quietly. Melissa gazed around the lab, and was surprised. She had been told that it was nothing special, yet she thought the whole building and its technology was pretty amazing. A man with blue hair snored at his desk, his Altaria sat on part of the desk and propped her head on her trainer`s, using him as a pillow. Nightfall was close, so it was no wonder the professor had fallen asleep. Melissa looked around for somebody else to bother.
"Hello?"

Professor Mya heard a voice that seemed a bit uncomfortable to her. Then she realized why. Hurriedly, she made her way to the main lobby of the lab and smiled at the girl that had just walked in. "One moment, please," Mya apologized. She went over to the desk and gently tapped Professor Sampson's shoulder. "Sampson, we have a guest." Mya turned to the girl, and introduced herself and Sampson. "Hi, sorry for the confusion. I'm Professor Mya, and this is Professor Sampson. I'll be the one assisting you tonight. Do you have any ideas of what you're looking for already?"
Gypsie stretched from her bed, and looked around. She stood up and studied the girl that had entered her home. After coming to the conclusion that she was okay, she laid back down, her back turned to the stranger that her master was now talking to.

Professor Sampson grumbled, but looked up at the girl. He had dark circles around his eyes, and his left cheek had some pen on it due to the fact he fell asleep on his sketch book. Altaria lifted her head and greeted the girl, daring herself to stay awake just a bit longer, she pecked Sampson on the head when it thudded back onto the hard desk.
Melissa watched the strange interaction between the younger looking male professor and his large bird/dragon pokemon. Altaria was a pokemon that Melissa had always wanted, and wondered where one might capture one. But that wasn`t important, picking out a pokemon was her first task.
Sampson scooted a list of pokemon and starter kits closer to her, Melissa lifted them from his desk and inspected them. All three of her favorite pokemon were on it, minus Dratini.
"You wouldn`t happen to have any Dratini do you? If not I`d be interested in seeing a Pichu, Charmander, and Larvitar if you have any."

Mya giggled at the scene that had just taken place between the Altaria and Professor Sampson. She nodded to Melissa and went to the back of the lab, where the Pokemon were held. Quickly grabbing two pokeballs, she looked desperately for nearly a full minute for a last one. When her search proved to be unsuccessful, she returned to the front with a saddened sigh.
"I'm very sorry to say that we are currently out of Charmander at the moment. Our next shipment of Pokemon will be here in three days. You could wait if you'd like, but I'm sure you don't want to do that. So here are the other two Pokemon you mentioned. And no, you've guessed it, we carry no Dratini. They are not suitable for inexperienced trainers. Larvitar are a challenge, as well, but not nearly as challenging as Dratini. Here you are." Mya released the two Pokemon - a Pichu and a Larvitar - from their pokeballs. They both stretched, then looked around.
The Larvitar was not amused one bit. It was the same Larvitar that another trainer had looked at not too long ago. He studied the trainer closely, waiting to see her personality shine through so he would know if he wanted to go with her or not. The Pichu on the other hand, she instantly giggled and ran towards the girl. Pi, pi, pi! she sounded with excitement. The Larvitar huffed at this childishness. He didn't play games. He got straight to business. There was no time to play for all the work that must be done to evolve into a fierce Tyranitar someday, with a trainer that would actually devote to his training. The Pichu twitched her ear, then smiled up at the trainer, waiting for her response.

Based on first impressions the Pichu had won my a mile since the Larvitar just sat there and looked angry at the world. Melissa had to wonder why the little pokemon was so cranky and uptight, its not like the Pichu had done anything terrible in their five seconds of out of pokeball freedom. Perhaps Larvitar had something else in mind. Even though Pichu seemed like the one she wanted to take on her adventure, she didn`t want to lose the chance of getting a once in a life time pokemon that was exclusive to the pokemon lab. Larvitar seemed like he would be the much more rare of the two, but Melissa decided to ask.
"Can you capture both types in the wild?" Melissa asked, as she seated herself on the floor near both of the pokemon. She smiled at the favorite electric pokemon and offered her hand out for the little yellow mouse to check out. Melissa turned her head to the Larvitar and raised an eyebrow.
"Whats wrong with you Larvitar?" asked the girl, Sampson glanced up and examined the Larvitar as best as he could from his distance. He remembered Clark showing his nephew that same Larvitar only but a week ago, not only Leon had turned this angry critter down.
"Oh..." Yawned Sampson, "That little Larvitar has some kind of superiority complex, he doesn`t really like trainers it seems. Its a shame though, every time we get asked about a Larvitar we pull him out, but nobody seems the least bit interested in him since hes not very sociable."
Melissa thought about what the second Professor has just told her, while waiting for the Pichu to play at the same time. She really wanted to take both of them, but knew she couldn`t.
"That is a shame, because if no trainer ever likes you Larvitar you`ll be stuck like that forever."
(Pichu evolves to Pikachu by happiness level, so how would we do something like that in the rp?)

Mya sighed as Sampson explained what was up with the Larvitar, for she had just realized that everything he was saying was true. She felt the need to add, "Yes, he does seem a bit distant. However, I think he just isn't the playing type. I'm sure he'd make a great companion to someone. He just hasn't found the right one yet. Pichu are much more easy to find than Larvitar are. The little dinosaur Pokemon can be found at Smokie Mountains, but they are very rare. I've went there to look for some before, but to no success. So instead we order them from other regions where they breed Tyranitar for just these purposes."
The Larvitar watched the girl closely as she leaned down to talk to him. He listened intently to her, taking in her thoughts. He huffed as she said that he would be stuck here forever, pretty much meaning if he kept acting this way. That was their problem, not his. He wouldn't go with someone that wasn't dedicated to his training as much as he was. Maybe this girl was different, though. Maybe she would be good to train with and maybe to play with. If that was the case, she could choose either him or the Pichu. He would satisfy the training, the Pichu would satisfy the playing. Which one did she like to do more of, though? The Larvitar uncrossed his arms, but still stood proudly. He hadn't yet returned to his pokeball, this time.
The Pichu giggled and ran in circles around the girl the whole time she was leaning down. <Yay! Someone new to play with! She looks fun!> she excitedly commented to the Larvitar, though he paid her no mind. She was one of the newest Pokemon here, and so she was eager to travel just as well as the Larvitar was, though he had been here quite a while.
{OOC: Maybe 5 to 15 levels after the Pichu is caught, it could be happy enough and evolve just while they're on a journey with their trainer or right after a fun battle or something.}

Melissa was torn between the two pokemon, one had the pep that the girl had been looking for yet the other seemed to have the challenging edge that she also had been looking forward to. She knew which pokemon that would be the smartest choice, picking the one that was the hardest to find, but Melissa felt guilty that she would have to turn the little Pichu down. Melissa glanced up at the two professors, hoping that they would understand.
"Pichu, I`m sorry but I think that Larvitar needs a friend." She told the little electric pokemon apologetically, Melissa felt so, so guilty but knew that if she didn`t help the little Larvitar then maybe nobody would. Professor Sampson got up and began to gather two backpacks, once they were done he placed them on the desk. Melissa knew which starter pack she wanted, now she just waited for Professor Mya to reply. She grinned at the little Larvitar, a little bit of fire in her eyes, showing her determination to get on the road.
"So Larvitar, what do you say?" asked Melissa, she looked back at Sampson for a moment. She decided that her new Larvitar would look cute with a scarf around its neck. "I`ll take the first starter kit, if you dont mind."
Sampson took the second kit behind his desk, then waited for Mya to hand over the pokeball. Melissa grabbed the starter pack and threw it over her shoulder, but pulled out a large red scarf. Kneeling back down before Larvitar she held out the red scarf, hoping that he would allow her to be his friend.

Mya smiled as she recalled the Pichu. Pichu were easy to hand out, but this Larvitar was finally getting the journey he'd wished for. She held both pokeballs in her hands as she waited for the Larvitar's decision. The Larvitar looked curiously at the girl, then actually smiled for the first time ever, even if it was a bit of a sarcastic smile. He slightly nodded his head once, letting her know that he was willing to go with her. However, when she offered him the red scarf, he swatted it away with his tail. Lar! He stood there again, still ready to go with this girl. He just didn't want to wear fashioning things that might make him look cute. He wasn't cute, he was strong. Mya's eyes grew in awe, for she'd never seen anything of the sort. Most Pokemon loved to look cute. Then again, most Pokemon loved to play. This one didn't like either, apparently. "Well, here's his pokeball. He seems to be a real delight." Mya laughed, having to add in a sarcastic remark about this stubborn little Pokemon. She handed Melissa a yellow sticky note with something written on it. "Here's a list of the attacks he knows, the type of food he seems to like the best, and his natural abilities. It'll come in handy, trust me."You have received a Larvitar!Name: ? Melissa took Larvitar`s pokeball when the Professor handed it over to her. When her new pokemon rejected the scarf she decided to put it back into her bag, eventually Larvitar would warm up to her... hopefully. It didnt seem like the Pichu was very disappointed, so her spirits were lifted quiet a bit.
"Thank you so much, Larvitar and I wont let you down!" Melissa told the two professors and their pokemon, Sampson nodded his head. The teenager started to head off and waited for Larvitar to follow. He looked a little hesitant at first, but began to follow after his new trainer wondering what he had gotten into.
