It was about time that Allan decided to take on the very first gym, he had been taking in the sites for the past week or so with Hayate and his new Ditto. Ditto always sat ontop of Allan`s right shoulder and looked for new pokemon to copy.
He took the last couple of steps towards the gym, Ditto clinging to his shoulder with a big smile on its face. Allan smirked and headed through the open doors, the gym smelled nice. With his hands in his pockets he strode into the middle of the room, wondering where the gym leader was.
"Anybody here?"

Fiona's head lifted up as she heard a faint voice. Smiling, she grabbed her towel and quickly dried her hair as much as she could. She grabbed her pokeballs, recalled her two Pokemon, and ran to the front of the gym.
When she opened the door, she immediately saw a young boy with a Ditto attached to his shoulder. 'This should be quite fun,' she thought to herself with a smirk. "Hello there. I'm Fiona, the gym leader of Centre Town. I specialize in water types." Fiona walked forward the rest of the way until she was only about two or three feet away from the trainer, and offered her hand to shake a greeting. "Sorry I wasn't in sight, and that my hair is wet. I was relaxing with my Pokemon in the pool," she apologized. "Who am I challenging today? I assume you are here for a gym battle."

Allan gladly shook her hand with a smile before the battle began, just in case they werent on such good terms after the battle. Ditto searched around the gym for a second time, wondering where were all of the other pokemon that it could possibly copy. When it didn`t find any, Ditto frowned but continued to hang out on its trainer`s shoulder.
"Pssh, its no problem at all." laughed the trainer, then heard the gym leader`s question, "Oh, I`m.. uh, Allan."
Now he wasn`t quite sure if he should have gave a last name or not. Allan had been hearing Faolan all over the news with information about Shadowbolt. He thought it would be best to leave it as it was, so the gym leader didn`t feel like she had to beat him and turn him over to the police for just a similarity in names.
"And yes, I am here for a gym battle, if you`re not busy."

"Nice to meet you, Allan." Fiona glanced at the Ditto just in time to see it apparently scouring the place. The it looked a bit sad to her. "I'm never to busy for a good challenge. Your Ditto looks eager to battle, as well." Fiona giggled, then turned around and walked back towards the door she had just came from. "We won't be battling here. Instead, we're battling in the back, where the pool is. It's best for water types to battle in and around water. I hope you can adapt to that."
Fiona opened the door and went through, immediately taking her place on the battle area. She waited patiently for Allan to follow so that she could explain the rules of the gym and start their battle. She couldn't wait to see his Pokemon. She'd seen many over her life here at the gym, and it never ceased to amaze her of all the different types of Pokemon various trainers liked. It seemed that the people would pick Pokemon that matched their personalities, or maybe they had just adapted to each other. Whatever the case, Fiona loved to see how well trainers and their Pokemon could work together.

Allan stroked his little pink blob of a pokemon, who let out a purring like sound. Ditto loved to be near its trainer more than anything else, feeling somebody that it was close to calmed the Ditto. The pink pokemon looked sad though, it wasn`t yet strong enough to battle at a gym, so would just have to watch from Allan`s shoulder.
"Ditto wont be battling, she`s not strong enough just yet." Allan told the gym leader. He knew that a ditto was a genderless pokemon, but his Ditto seemed to act much more feminine. Allan gripped a pokeball he had clipped to his belt and followed Flona to the pool area in the gym. A ground type pokemon would have a ton of trouble battling here, but it would be absolutely no problem for his starter. Allan pressed the button and released his Totodile, Hayate.
"I dont think we`ll have any trouble getting used to the water." Totodile nodded his head in agreement, then crossed his little arms waiting to see what pokemon he would be fighting first.

Fiona squinted her eyes in disappointment. "Well, that's too bad," she replied. "I was looking forward to battle with a Ditto. Maybe you'll change your mind after your Totodile faints," Fiona laughed jokingly. "And you have already adapted well to my gym. That's a great advantage. It's a good thing you didn't have any fire or ground types to battle here. You would have been hurting badly." Fiona laughed again. She loved to joke, but she was still a serious battler. "Alright, here are the rules. Even though you say you're only using your Totodile, it is required for me to tell you all of them. You may only use one Pokemon at a time. If one of my Pokemon faint, you may switch your Pokemon to battle my second one. You may only use up to two Pokemon. Neither of us may switch out during the middle of a battle. If you defeat both of my Pokemon, you will, of course, receive the Sea Ruby badge, which can only be obtained here, as well as a couple of other special prizes for winning." Fiona recited these words as if she had said them a million times, and said them a bit fast, as well, though still understandable. She took a breath after she finished explaining the rules of the gym, then grabbed one of her pokeballs and threw it fashionably towards the water. A Psyduck came out of the pokeball, and landed in the water. "Dudley, we're about to have a battle. Are you ready?" Psy! came the answer. This Psyduck was not holding his head as most Psyduck did. Apparently he was very well trained. "Ready when you are, Allan. Challenger has the honors of the first move."You will be battling against these Pokemon:Name: Dudley Gender: Male Level: 11 Ability: Damp & Cloud Nine Attacks: Water Gun, Scratch, Tail Whip, Water Sport Name: Belina Gender: Female Level: 10 Ability: Swift Swim Attacks: Growl, Quick Attack, Water Sport, Water Gun

There wasn`t a huge level difference between the two pokemon, Allan just hoped that it was enough to get Hayate through both of the battles. Ditto was far too weak to fight these higher level pokemon, who also had much more battle experience that she did. Hayate looked eager for the battle to begin, knowing that if he gained another level or two he would soon be a Croconaw. Ditto transformed into a Psyduck on Allan`s shoulder and tilted its head.
Hayate didn`t wait for a command, rather, knew what he wanted to do. The totodile dove into the water heading strait for the duck pokemon. He swam swiftly with his jaws clenched tightly, but as soon as the totodile was close, Hayate opened up his jaws and prepared to bite down onto the duck. Psyduck weren`t only water type pokemon, they knew psychic moves as well, so if it all worked out correctly and his bite connected, the battle would be close to an end.

Dudley the Psyduck hadn't waited for a command to dodge or block the attack, for it was natural instinct to him. As soon as the Totodile had shot up out of the water, he had jumped sideways and dove into the water. Swimming as fast as he could, he, too, shot up out of the water back onto a rock that was a little far away from the little crocodile Pokemon. He had drew in as much water as possible while under water, for he knew the routine.
"Alright Dudley," Fiona commanded. Dudley listened to his master, trusting her timing. He used Water Gun, aiming not towards the Totodile, but to the rock he was on. If he didn't jump off, he would fall off from the slipperiness of the wet rock. If he fell off, this would give Dudley time to swim to him after the Totodile had lost his balance and perform a stronger attack that would weaken the Totodile. Fiona had trained her Pokemon with various routines, especially against other water types where water attacks wouldn't be as effective.

Hayate landed on the rock for a split second, then flopped himself back into the water as soon as he realized the current situation. If he slipped off and got hurt, that would make them look bad and would give the other side an upper hand. Somehow he had to last through a whole other fight, but these pokemon werent the same level (they were several bellow) so Hayate knew he had to pull through.
While the Psyduck was distracted with its water gun, Totodile swam very close to the bottom of the pool so it couldnt be easily detected until the last moment. Once he got into Dudley`s shadow Hayate began to swim upwards, and hopefully he could clamp his jaws around the psychic/water pokemon. His feet and hands hardly moved while he swam up, but this made him slower and harder to spot. Thanks to the water gun hitting the rock and raining down on the pool Hayate could move at all. Once close enough, Hayate opened his jaws as wide as they would go and tried to bite the psyduck.

When the Totodile took his exit into the water, Dudley stopped using his Water Gun attack and looked around, getting a bit confused. He started to put his hands to his head because his head was starting to hurt while he was thinking about the situation, as it was confusing him, but Fiona stopped him by saying, "Behind you Dudley!" Fiona, too, had been scanning the area to see where their opponent had gone. 'He's tough, smart, and fast, I have to give him that. But he can't be as good as my Dudley,' Fiona thought to herself.
Even with his master's warning, Dudley had not been quick enough, or maybe his trainer's warning hadn't been quick enough. Instead of turning around to see his challenger, Dudley had tried to escape into the water. When the Psyduck jumped, he felt jaws close in around his back. Psssy! he screamed out in pain. This was the attack Dudley hated the most - any kind of bites. The Psyduck was pulled back down to the rock from his jump, and tried to wriggle free of the bite. "Dudley, don't take that! Scratch him!" Dudley stopped squirming long enough to examine the position he was in and realized that he couldn't turn around to scratch the Totodile, and he panicked yet again.
"Dudley, get a hold of yourself! Scratch!" Fiona was growing a bit desperate, as Dudley had never allowed himself to be caught like this before. Apparently, this Totodile was stronger than she thought. That still wouldn't bring them down, though.
Dudley was still frightened, but he started twisting his body, and though the teeth were cutting him, he tried to stay calm while doing so for he was trying to get loose long enough to turn around and scratch his foe. He realized he had manage to turn around just enough so that he could barely bring his left arm towards the Totodile, and if done right, he would be scratched. Though Dudley actually had a doubt in his mind, he swung his arm as quick as possible so that his claws would do at least a little bit of damage when contact was made with the Totodile's nose. Fiona, a bit agitated now, watched almost in horror as her Psyduck was in the first predicament like this ever. Their plans would follow through, even if temporary adjustments to it must be made.

Allan smiled, feeling confident that this gym badge was going to be in hands within a couple of minutes. Of course there was a little bit of doubt in his mind, that Hayate might not be able to beat both of the gym leader's pokemon, but he had to push the thought out of his mind. They had to win, because losing was not an option at this point. Allan wanted to be a great trainer, and he couldn't let an ounce of doubt ruin his mood.
Hayate was still full of determination, not yet feeling as worn out as the psyduck probably felt. He knew that the duck was bound to try and attack back, but wasn't expecting the sharp claws that were brought down on his eye, leaving a nice gash in his flesh. Hayate released his grip for a moment, drifting back into the water to take cover. He didn't hesitate for a single second, thinking that this experienced gym leader probably had a plan. Time was the enemy here, and Hayate propelled back through the water, his jaws opened wide again, ready to clamp down the moment the two came in contact. Everything was happening so fast now, Hayate just hoped this would be the last needed attack.
