Nicholas ran to the beginning of the route, then called out his Charmander. "Hey," he greeted when his new Pokemon was standing up on the ground, looking around curiously. The Charmander turned around and saw his trainer, then turned his head in awe. He had no idea what was going on. "I'm your trainer, Nick. And you're my new friend, Chance. That's your name, Chance. Sound alright to you? It was by chance that we came together, so that's why I named you Chance." The Charmander smiled and answered, Char! Nick nodded, then guestured towards the path. "We've got to go along this path and battle and or catch Pokemon, and then face the gym leader. Understand?"
The Charmander nodded in excitement, then ran to the path ahead of his trainer, ready for battle. "That's the spirit, Chance. Alright then, let's go!" Nick encouraged. He ran to catch up with his Pokemon, and had to laugh as his Charmander seemed to wobble while running. They were ready for anything that could possibly come their way.

For the most part Allison was avoiding any scary looking pokemon, she knew her magikarp wouldn`t be able to handle much right now. She was only willing to take on some tiny little wurmple and other near worthless bug pokemon. Allison paused when she heard a noise, another trainer and a charmander. Great, that was just her luck wasn`t it? The young trainer glanced about, trying to figure out which direction she should avoid. "Great...." she muttered to herself, Allison continued to walk along, occasionally hiding herself behind trees as she looked around. When she thought she was in the clear she got back onto the main path and continued to walk along. When she heard the charmander again she stopped, and backed right up into somebody. Allison staggered backwards trying to regain her balance, but she tripped over a rock and landed right on her butt. Her pokeball hit a rock and released her magikarp. "Karp, karp karp karp."Allison scrambled to grab her pokeball. "Magikarp!"

Nick barely managed to keep his balance as a girl bumped into him. He looked around at her as she fell over a rock, and then saw her starter Pokemon come out - a Magikarp. He laughed at the way the Magikarp flopped around helplessly, though not in a mocking manner. He instructed his Charmander to fetch the Pokeball for her, and Chance did as he was told. He ran to the Pokeball and nearly jumped on it, then picked it up with his tiny hands. He walked towards the Magikarp with it, then looked down and studied the pokeball curiously for a moment. He nudged the button with his nose and the pokeball opened up. The red orb that filled the pokeball tried to absorb him to the inside, and Chance freaked out and dropped the pokeball. It was open, now, at least, and so it stayed where it had been dropped. Chance ran to his trainer and hugged his leg tight. Char, char!
"It's alright Chance,” Nick reassured his Pokemon. Nick picked up the Pokeball then walked over to the girl and held out his hand to help her up. He smiled at her, for she was apparently frightened. Why she picked a worthless Magikarp as a starter Pokemon, he would never know. But, he thought, they do evolve into Gyrados, so maybe she made a wise choice. Maybe she likes challenges like I do.

Allison could hardly look at the trainer she had bumped into. She frowned when she heard him laugh at her worthless pokemon flopping about. Magikarp was embarrassing, and now she was trying to figure out why she had been so foolish. The fish pokemon flopped around some more and saw her disappointed face, it was disheartening to him, but there wasn`t much more he could do right now. Karp Karp M-MagikarpWhen he offered his hand to help her up, Allison glanced up at him, her face turned red. She took his hand carefully and pulled herself up. Then she knelt down and grabbed the pokeball and her special little fish friend. Karp Karp M-Magikarp < I don`t think she likes me very much >"S-Sorry... I... I didn`t mean to run into you." Allison quickly told him apologetically, she felt pretty bad. The girl pressed the button on the pokeball and the magikarp was pulled in by the red light. Allison clipped the pokeball back on her belt and she brushed herself off. She pulled a twig out of her pink hair and looked back at him, surprised that he hadn`t already challenged her to a pokemon, especially since it would be such an easy fight. "I`m Allison.... Allison Hyatt."

Nick smiled as Allison apologized and then introduced herself, and he replied, No need to say you're sorry, accidents happen. Just don't do it again," he joked. "I'm Nicholas Taylor. You can call me Nick, Alex, or Xander, whichever you prefer." Nick bent down to his Charmander then and patted his head. "Thanks, Chance." When he stood back up, he nodded to Allison's pokeball. "What made you decide to get a Magikarp? Those things are a bitch to train. Charizards are, as well, but I'll have enough experience by the time he evolves into one." Nick still had a slight smirk on his face, but he had lost most of his amusement by now. He wondered about this girl, for she seemed to be a bit quieter than most he had encountered, even though he found it quite pleasing. He was adventurous, sure, but he didn't like people that rambled on with no point.

Allison crossed her arms tightly across her chest as she thought about a decent sounding reason as to why she decided to go with such a stupid pokemon. A magikarp was not a very wise choice for a new trainer to go with, but she guessed that she wanted a challenging starter pokemon. Allison glanced down at the pokeball on her belt and shrugged her shoulders.
"I-I don`t really know actually, I just wanted a pokemon that was out of the ordinary... I didn`t really think about how hard magikarp would be to train." She looked at the little fire pokemon, they both had dragon type pokemon that would be difficult to train, though hers was much more so since it couldn`t do anything until it was at least level fifteen. But she greatly looked forward to her Gyrados, and knew that Magikarp would be worth the extra effort. "Your charmander seems pretty well behaved now, I doubt he`ll be too much of a hassle when he becomes a Chaizard. Then again they do seem to have minds of their own."

Nick chuckled, then replied, "Yea, well, if the trainer isn't experienced enough, the Charizard, no matter how good of a Charmander and Charmeleon he was, will sense their vulnerability, and disobey them because they know we can't stop them then. They've also got to learn to trust you. Magikarp are pretty easy to handle, but still a bitch to train since how they don't know how to do any effective attacks. Once they evolve into a Gyrados, though, ya' better look out." Nick put his hands in his back pockets and swayed on his heels for a moment, then asked, "I don't usually care for company, but you seem alright, not like all those clingy people I met in my hometown. Wanna tag along? I could help you get that Magikarp of yours strong. I'd be more than glad to help, and to see how strong he can get."

Allison nodded her head as he spoke, knowing that only a powerful trainer could handle a dragon pokemon. Charizard and Gyrados were known from their stubbornness, which would probably be a big problem in the future, but Allison didn`t worry too much. What pokemon trainer didn`t have faith in their abilities? And of course she was no exception.
"That might be true, but I`m not afraid of a challenge. Magikarp will be one of the greatest pokemon thats ever lived. He`s going to be amazing, you`ll see." Allison replied, glancing at the pokeball attached to her belt. But when he offered to be a traveling companion she looked back up at him, wondering if it was some kind of set up.
"Whats the catch?"

Nick huffed in amusement, then replied with his eyebrows raised, "No catch." He looked to his Charmander, which was carefully studying a tree that contained berries, and Nick figured that he was hungry. "Say, why don't you let your Magikarp out for a moment? Try to calm him so he doesn't flop around helplessly again, though."
Nick walked over to Chance and looked up at the tree. He saw a single branch that only contained leaves, but it was low enough to the ground so that he could get a good start in climbing. He jumped up and barely was able to get his arms around the limb, but then he propped his feet on the trunk and pulled himself up. Standing on the branch, he worked hard to keep his balance while he tried to reach some of the berries. Being unsuccessful, he thought for a moment what he should do, but there was only one thing that came to mind.
"Chance, return!" Chance reluctantly obeyed his trainer, but almost as soon as he was in his pokeball was he out again, but this time in a tree. Charmander! Char, char! Chance waved his arms around frantically and almost fell, but he grasped for dear life onto the limb on which he had been called out. "Chance, be calm now. You're right next to the berries. Just slowly edge your way out a bit and grab some. Just don't eat them yet." Chance crawled out on the limb and warily stood up, he looked down and was even more nervous than before, seeing how high up he truly was. Breathing slowly to regain his self-control, he eased his way up so that he was standing, and reached for the berries.
After he grabbed what he thought was enough, he called out to his trainer, and Nick then jumped down. He walked over to the bottom of where his Charmander was, and instructed him to jump. Though Chance was already terrified, he trusted his trainer to do the right thing, and sure enough, when he more or less fell out of the tree, only a couple seconds later he was caught and placed easily on the ground. "Thanks, Chance." Nick took the berries and split them four ways, then gave some to chance and half he handed to Allison. "Sorry it took so long, I thought I could get up there myself," he laughed.

But the offer sounded too good to be true, how could there not be some kind of catch? Allison just guessed she would have to trust the other teenager that she had hardly known for five minutes, but at the first sign of danger... then she was out. And when it was suggested that she let magikarp out then she reached for the pokeball on her belt and let out her fish pokemon.
At first Magikarp just flopped around, gasping for a good breath. Allison knelt down and picked him up and shushed him, which oddly enough seemed to work. Magikarp stared at her all wide eyed but eventually stopped squirming. Allison let out a sigh, thankful that her poor pokemon wasn`t too freaked out anymore. The two of them watched Chance and Nick attempt to get the berries, she couldn`t help but giggle as she watched the two become incredibly desperate for the berries.
She stared at the berried, wondering if they were safe to eat. Allison looked up at Nick and shook her head, because she felt guilty for laughing, especially since she and magikarp couldn`t have done any better.
"You got them, so they`re yours."

"Nonsense. It's not like I poisoned them. It's food. Just feed some to your Magikarp and eat yours along the way, or save them for later for him, up to you. We should get going now, though. Chance needs some training." Nick smiled, then nodded to Allison, then to his Charmander, and continued to walk. He stopped, turned around, then laughed, "Are ya' comin'?" Nick raised his eyebrows yet again, then continued to walk towards the nearest city. Chance was relunctant, and wanted to wait for Allison to make her decision, but he didn't want to be left behind either. With a shrug of his shoulders, he wobbled along to catch up to his trainer.

Karp karp, magikarp
Allison looked down at her magikarp when he began to flop about in her arms again. The fish pokemon was hungry, so she fed him a couple of berries before deciding whether or not she should follow Nick. Many thoughts ran through her head at once, but she couldn`t really think of a downside to his offer, so Allison decided to go. Knowing that she couldn`t train magikarp alone was a little disheartening, but at least Nick was kind enough to assist her.
She quickly followed after him, and put the rest of the berries in her backpack hoping that they wouldn`t get squished up. "Im coming!" Allison quickly caught up with the charmander and his trainer, and she smiled a little bit. It was somewhat of a forced smile, since thats the only way she was able to smile nowadays. "Thanks for letting me tag along."

Char, char! Chance announced his excitement. Nick looked next to him to see what his Charmander was making a fuss about, and smiled when he saw Allison. "Well, are you ready to get that Magikarp strong? That's just what we're going to do, kay?" Nick winked at Allison in a friendly manner, then the Charmander smiled and hugged Allison's leg. Chance was already very fond of Allison, and was joyful that she was accompanying them on their journey. Nick saw this, and he felt his cheeks warming, and he turned his head, hoping he was turning red in the face, and if he was, that Allison hadn't seen. She sure was pretty, but he hadn't any time for a girlfriend at this point in his life. He hadn't even mastered training Pokemon yet.

"Sounds like a plan to me."
Allison smiled softly when Chance hugged her leg, he was such a friendly pokemon and was ten times more expressive than Magikarp was. The fish pokemon felt a twinge of jealousy, even though he couldn`t even do anything but flounder around helplessly. Magikarp batted his tail at the charmander, trying to get him away from his trainer but came to no avail. Allison sensed that her pokemon wanted more attention so she gently hugged her magikarp. Magikarp karp magikarp < Why doesn`t she like me as much as you? >
As observant as always Allison saw Nick turn away, his face as bright as his pokemon`s flaming tail, but she didn`t think much of it then because romance was entirely out of the question. It wasn`t because she didn`t want that kind of companion, it was mostly because she was yet to trust anybody again after Allison`s heart was shattered into a million pieces. Allison wanted to build up a bond with her pokemon, and now she had two new friends as well, so perhaps he mind might change.
"If I`m bothering you tell me, I don`t want to be a burden to you."

Nick slanted his eyebrows in surprise, his mouth barely cracked, and he commented, "Again I'll say, nonsense. Unless you decide you want to start yacking away with no point to what you're saying, or staying up my ass every step of the way, there's no way you'll be a burden to me. Now, stop being so damn hard on yourself and let's find us some wild Pokemon, how about it?" Nick smiled to show that he wasn't meaning to be rude, though he did prove unknowingly that he had a hint of dry humor, or at least that he was a bit sardonic.
Chance was already at his trainer's side when he heard Magikarp seemingly sadly comment about Allison liking hisself more than her own Pokemon. <She doesn't like me more than you, she's only showing affection towards me because I did her first. She may be a bit nervous or scared around you right now, even though she's holding you. She may not know how to show you affection. That's where you come in. Just nuzzle her or something, and make sure to smile. Smiles are always helpful. Just show her that you can be affectionate even if you're not yet useful in battles.> Chance smiled at the Magikarp, then turned back around to go in the right direction. He hoped that the fish wouldn't hold it against him for being nice to his trainer. He seemed to think they could be friends, though it wasn't going so well right now.
